Even your best referral looks you up before they call. Industry research suggests most homeowners search online before contacting a home service company. Here's what they check in those first few seconds.

How to take it

Pull up your website on your phone, the way a customer would. Give it 10 seconds. Then check every box you can honestly say yes to.

1. Can they tell what you do and where, right away?
In the first screen, without scrolling: your trade, the towns you serve, and your phone number.2. Can they tap to call?
On a phone, your number should be one tap away at the top of the page. Not buried in the footer, not an image they can't press.3. Does it look current?
Old fonts, broken pages or a copyright year from 2016 make a busy business look like it might have closed.4. Are those your real jobs?
Photos of your own trucks, crew and finished work beat stock photos every time.5. Can they see that people trust you?
Reviews and testimonials on the page, not a link to go find them somewhere else.6. Does it load fast on a phone?
Open it on your phone with Wi-Fi off. If you're waiting, so are your customers, and they won't wait long.7. Is there an easy next step?
A clear button to call or request an estimate. If they have to figure out how to reach you, many won't.
